Hi!  I'm Katie McCormick, a physicist, physics teacher, and science writer based in Seattle, WA.

After earning my Ph.D. in 2019 at University of Colorado, I moved out west to continue research at UW as a postdoc. I study the quantum mechanics of atoms and molecules--read more about my research here.

When I'm not in the lab, I write about science. I have covered stories ranging from the foundations of physics to new techniques for virus detection. You can find my work at Scientific American, The Conversation, PBS Space Time, and Massive Science. Find my clips here.

I also love teaching. I recently haven't had the time for it, but you can learn more about my past teaching experiences and philosophy here.

Outside of science, I enjoy ultimate frisbee, rock climbing, and getting outside with my partner, Dan, and dog, Suki.
