ABOUT ME

Hi!  I'm Katie, a physicist-turned-science writer living in Sacramento, CA.

I write mainly about physics — quantum mechanics, quantum computing, fundamental physics, and cosmology are some of my favorite subjects to report on. You can find my work in Quanta Magazine, Physics Magazine, Knowable Magazine, New Scientist, News from Science, and elsewhere. Find my clips here.

I received my Ph.D. in 2019 at University of Colorado and did a postdoc at UW in Seattle before making the jump to science writing full-time. I studied the quantum mechanics of atoms and molecules — read more about my past research here.

Outside of science, I enjoy ultimate frisbee, rock climbing, and getting outside with my partner, Dan, and dog, Suki.
